Kobbie Mainoo shares update after injury vs Real Madrid as Manchester United teammates show support
Manchester United prospect Kobbie Mainoo has vowed to return from his injury setback a “stronger” person while thanking fans for their support.
The 18-year-old was forced off inside three minutes during Thursday’s 2-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid after an accidental coming-together with Los Blancos attacker Rodrygo. The teenager had to be helped off the field by two medics, unable to put weight on his left foot.
After Erik ten Hag was unable to provide an immediate update on the midfielder post-match, Mainoo was seen leaving the NRG Stadium in Texas on crutches and wearing a protective boot. The extent of his injury has not yet been confirmed.

The setback comes as a blow for both player and club following an exciting pre-season, having impressed against Leeds, Lyon and Arsenal. He started the match against Madrid ahead of the likes of Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay in a gesture of faith from his manager.
