"Klopp might be tempted" - talkSPORT reporter drops big Liverpool transfer claim on 130-goal ace

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘might be tempted’ to offer Chelsea striker Timo Werner a summer move to Anfield, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Reds have already bolstered their attacking options by signing Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho from Benfica and Fulham respectively, but Werner has also worked his way onto the Merseyside giants’ radar.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are plotting a move for Werner before the upcoming campaign gets underway.

The report suggests discussions have yet to take place with Chelsea, but the Reds are keen to seal a deal for the 53-cap Germany international after previously missing out on his services.

Instead of heading to Anfield as he made the move to the Premier League for the first time in his career, Werner ended up joining Chelsea after the £45million release clause written into his RB Leipzig contract was triggered two years ago.

However, Liverpool may be left frustrated once again as it is understood that the 26-year-old could be used in a player-plus-cash swap deal which would see Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt head to Stamford Bridge.

Werner still has three years remaining on his Chelsea contract, which is worth £268,000-per-week.

Crook has refused to rule out the possibility of Liverpool looking to take Werner off Chelsea’s hands.

The journalist understands Klopp is a fan of his fellow countryman and, having previously failed to win the race for his signature, could try his luck once again.
