Klopp lauds ‘incredible’ Liverpool star following ‘one of his best games’
Jurgen Klopp reserved special praise for Takumi Minamino following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Reds beat Chelsea on penalties over the weekend at Wembley to win their first EFL Cup since 2011/12.
Three days later, Liverpool were back in action as they hosted Norwich in the FA Cup. Klopp made ten changes for this game as he rested some key players.
AFCON might just have decimated Liverpool’s title chances
Japanese attacker Minamino came into the team and he scored a first-half brace as Liverpool edged past Norwich.
Lukas Rupp pulled a goal back for the Canaries with 15 minutes to go but Liverpool held on to advance.
Liverpool are able to win the Quadruple in 2021/22 as they are also fighting for the Premier League and Champions League.
Minamino is yet to start in the Premier League this term but he has been key in domestic cup competitions.
He has now provided seven goals and an assist from his eight outings in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season.
Klopp lauded 27-year-old following “one of his best games” for Liverpool:
“If you make ten changes you can’t expect perfection. We played a really good game, controlled. We were calm enough to open up their gaps. We scored wonderful goals,” Klopp said (via BBC Sport).
“We didn’t finish the game off and it was still open. They scored and we had to fight to bring it over the line. That’s fine. I’m really happy with the performance.
