Kinnoull celebrate Perthshire derby day delight with 3-0 win against Luncarty

Kinnoull enjoyed derby day delight to stretch their Conference B lead over Luncarty.

There had been great excitement pre-match for this tussle of Perthshire at Brownlands Park.

A close battle was expected and visitors Kinnoull obtained the upper hand through an early Rhys Davies penalty.

Only a solitary goal separated the teams at the break but Ben Ragan and another from Davies in the second half secured the bragging rights.

Thanks to their 3-0 victory, Kinnoull, who sit fourth in the table, are now eight points clear of Luncarty.

Manager Alan Cameron again hailed the work ethic of his players, who continue to ride on the crest of a wave despite a hectic schedule.

“I felt we got what we deserved from Saturday’s game,” he told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“A lot of importance was put onto the game and the significance of the derby result.

“But we felt we had to concentrate on playing our football.

“First half was probably about even, with a couple of half chances for both sides.

“Going in at the break a goal up was a bonus as we hadn’t played to our best.

“But second half, after we regrouped, I felt there was only one winner.

“Special mention needs to go to our back four who dealt with a lot of long balls admirably.

“The results keep coming due to the hard work of the players, who keep working together to improve.”

Kinnoull are back in action on Wednesday and face Armadale Thistle at Tulloch Park (7pm) in the King Cup third round.

“There is a togetherness and will to win, which we hope continues,” Cameron continued.

“We have some tough games left so we need to maintain the standards.”
