Kings Park sold out in 90 minutes for Springboks v Ireland, 2nd Test

Tickets for the second Test between the Springboks and Ireland in Durban on 13 July were sold out in just an hour and a half on Monday morning.

As was the case when tickets went on sale a week ago for the first Test at Loftus, the South African public was quick to respond and a total of 21 000 tickets were snapped up between 09:00 and 10:30 on Monday.

With other tickets allocated to season ticket holders, partners and key stakeholders, Kings Park will be packed to the rafters.

Capacity at the stadium used to be around 53 000, but recent renovations have dropped that to around 46 000.

The Durban faithful have shown consistently strong support in the United Rugby Championship this season despite the Sharks sitting bottom of the log with just one victory from the entire campaign.

"We are delighted that we were able to sell out tickets to the Test Match in 90 minutes," Sharks CEO Ed Coetzee told News24.

"The eagerness and excitement amongst fans to see our world champions, the Springboks in action against Ireland is fantastic to see.

"The atmosphere at Kings Park is going to be electrifying on 13 July, and we look forward to welcoming all fans to the stadium for a memorable day."
