Kilmarnock 'to request' Aberdeen FC match postponement to boost Europa Conference League qualification hopes

Kilmarnock are reportedly set to request that next weekend's Premiership clash with Aberdeen is postponed in order to improve their chances of reaching the group phase in the Conference League.

Derek McInnes' side are due to head up to Pittodrie next Sunday, just two days after their meeting with FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their huge play-off match in Denmark, with the return leg coming at Rugby Park seven days later. The Ayrshire club's domestic form has already suffered as a result of their commitments on the continent, with Killie losing both of their first two Premiership matches and a defeat to Motherwell in the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday afternoon. Those fixtures have followed tough European ties against Cercle Brugge and Tromso, with Killie bouncing back from a Europa League qualifying exit to Brugge by beating Tromso 3-2 on aggregate to move within two games of the coveted group stage.

According to the BBC, Rugby Park chiefs are now considering an appeal to have next weekend's trip to the Granite City rearranged. They add that the club are of the opinion that with the millions of pounds that can be banked from European qualification, a postponement would be beneficial to the whole of Scottish football and that the club are preparing to put forward their argument to the SPFL.
