Kilmarnock loanee earns praise from Clyde captain for assist with first touch in Stenhousemuir draw

Barry Cuddihy was the Clyde hero with an equaliser against Stenhousemuir - but the Bully Wee captain was full of praise for Kian Leslie after the winger set him up with his first touch.

Clyde took the lead against the champions early on at New Douglas Park after Robbie Leitch's seventh minute strike.

But the visitors netted on the stroke of half-time through Edin Lynch before Jordan Kirkpatrick pounced on Craig Howie's error to fire home a 25-yarder and turn the game on its head with 66 minutes on the clock.

That prompted Bully Wee boss Ian McCall to introduce Kian Leslie and the on-loan Kilmarnock winger took just a minute to make an impact, crossing for Cuddihy to head home a vital equaliser in Clyde's quest to avoid the pyramid play-offs.

Captain Cuddihy said: "It's another point in a crucial game that keeps us in it.

"It is always good to score and get us back in the game.

"But it was a brilliant delivery from Kian. I thought when he came on he was brilliant and gave their right-back a torrid time with his trickery.

"I think their defender fouled him three or four times just because he was that good at getting by him.

"It was a great ball in with his first touch and he put another couple of good balls in after that as well.

"It is great to see him back because he was out for a while with an ankle injury.

"Earlier in the season, that was a game we would have lost.

"When we went 2-1 down, it lifted our performance against the team who are champions.

"The last two games against them have been really good - beating them 6-1 in the last game - so it shows that, even though we are bottom, we can compete with the top sides in the league."

Clyde could have won it late on with a Connor Young free-kick flashing narrowly wide
