Kilmacud Crokes submit counter-objection to CCCC over club final

RTÉ Sport understands that Kilmacud Crokes have submitted a counter-objection to the Central Competition Controls Committee (CCCC) over Sunday's All-Ireland club football final.

On Tuesday evening, Ulster champions Glen confirmed they would be lodging an objection to the outcome of the decider amid a protracted controversy over the final play of the game, when the Stillorgan club had 16 active players on the field of play, defending a last-gasp 45.

However, the Dublin champions have have now confirmed their intention to challenge Glen's objection.

It is expected that the CCCC will meet in the next 24 hours to discuss both objections arising from the game.

On the day, Kilmacud Crokes won their third All-Ireland title on a score of 1-11 to 1-09, though almost immediately on the final whistle, discussion rumbled in social media about the final play, when the winners introduced two late substitutions but only one player departed towards the sideline.

Glen manager Malachy O'Rourke insisted that his side would "accept we got beat on the day" shortly after the final whistle, but the mood in the camp subsequently changed, with the club then seeking clarification from the GAA on the matter.

Having 16 players on the field is a breach of Rule 6.44, the penalties for which include the awarding of the game to the opposing team, for the game to be replayed, or a fine.
