Kilmacud Crokes and Glen to attend hearing next week

RTÉ Sport understands Kilmacud Crokes and Glen are to attend a hearing early next week over the continued fallout from the All-Ireland club final last weekend.

On Tuesday evening, Ulster champions Glen confirmed they would be lodging an objection to the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) over their two-point defeat amid a protracted controversy over the final play of the game, when Crokes had 16 active players on the field of play, defending a last-gasp 45.

Kilmacud subsequently submitted a counter-objection.

It's believed the CCCC will make a decision after hearing from both clubs.

Glen and Kilmacud will have up to three days to appeal that ruling.

On the day, Kilmacud Crokes won their third All-Ireland title on a score of 1-11 to 1-09, though almost immediately on the final whistle, discussion rumbled in social media about the final play, when the winners introduced two late substitutions but only one player departed towards the sideline.

Having 16 players on the field is a breach of Rule 6.44, the penalties for which include the awarding of the game to the opposing team, for the game to be replayed, or a fine.
