Kilkenny-Limerick postponed due to unplayable pitch

Sunday's Allianz Hurling League Division 1A clash between Kilkenny and Limerick has been postponed due to an unplayable pitch at UPMC Nowlan Park.

The game was due to throw-in at 1.45pm but following heavy rain at the venue, a pitch inspection was conducted this morning and the surface was deemed unplayable.

It is the third Allianz League game across both codes to be postponed this weekend, with Sligo's home game against Clare in Division 3 of the football league also called off due to an unplayable pitch, while it was understood that Wexford and Wicklow's Division 4 clash was postponed due to a bereavement.

Kilkennny currently lie second in the table, having bounced back from their Round 2 loss at home to Galway with a comfortable win away to Wexford a week later.

John Kiely's side, having had their bye-week on the opening weekend, remain unbeaten, having played out a hard-fought draw with Cork before overcoming Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds in Round 3.

Elsewhere in Division 1A, All-Ireland champions Clare will host Wexford in Ennis, in a meeting of the table's bottom two sides.
