Kieran Trippier to return? Newcastle United predicted XI for final day clash with Burnley

Eddie Howe is likely to name an unchanged side against Burnley after a memorable win against Arsenal – if Fabian Schar can get through the concussion protocols.

Newcastle United head to Turf Moor tomorrow for the final match of the season. If they win and results go their way, Newcastle could finish in 10th place, boosting the balance sheet ahead of the transfer window.

However, Burnley have far graver concerns, with the final relegation spot going to either them or Leeds United, who are away to Brentford. The two teams are level on points, though Burnley's goal difference is 20 goals better.

Tyneside is still on a high after Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 on Monday night. If precedent is anything to go by, it is likely that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will stick with a winning side.

The big question mark is Fabian Schar, who went off against Arsenal after getting a knock to the head. Howe said the club is following concussion protocols, so his reappearance depends on how that goes.

If there is too great a risk, it is likely that Jamaal Lascelles will making the starting eleven, having more than shown he was up to scratch against Arsenal. Big Dan Burn meanwhile is also a sure-fire starter.

At left-back, Matt Targett, currently on loan from Aston Villa, will be in as usual. On the other side, Kieran Trippier has returned from injury, but Emil Krafth has done more than enough to earn the shirt and is likely to keep Trippier on the bench to begin with at least.

In midfield, Bruno Guimaraes is guaranteed a spot, as is his fellow Brazilian Joelinton. Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock are still injured, so Sean Longstaff will have another chance to impress as he ponders his future.
