Kieran Trippier praises Newcastle United's character as goal hero hails 'dominant' display

Kieran Trippier has hailed the character of Newcastle United after their massive win over Everton.

The England full-back put in a sparkling display and scored the all important clincher with a wonderful late effort at the Gallowgate End to raise the roof.

But Trippier urged the squad to keep their feet on the ground and pointed to the final 16 matches of the season.

Trippier said after the game: "It shows massive character from the team. We are going to need everybody.

"We know the position we are in.

"We got a great three points but still loads of games to go and we are taking one at a time.

"Feel we controlled the game and were dominant.

"To concede from a set-piece was disappointing, but to come from behind shows character and bodes well for the rest of the season.

"The most important thing is the team and the team performance."

When asked about his own personal efforts so far, he added: "I came here to challenge myself and help my team-mates.

"I am here to help on and off the pitch.

"The most important thing is results and to stay in Premier League and that's our aim."
