Kieran McKenna outlines his lofty ambitions for Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has said that he wants to be a Premier League manager in the future and ideally wants to take Ipswich Town with him on that journey.
The Tractor Boys have had an up and down season this year with them underperforming under Paul Cook at the start of the campaign after being expected by many to challenge for promotion.
Indeed, things didn’t appear a happy camp at Portman Road but McKenna has come in and lifted the mood, even if the Tractor Boys are set to remain in League One for at least another season.
That said, though, McKenna has no plans on remaining in the third tier for the long haul, with him saying he wants to work up to the top tier, and take his current side with him.
“We know that’s going to be a long journey and I’m here to be a big part of that journey. I’m here to help guide the football club to where it wants to get to and, obviously, ultimately where I want to get to as a manager,” he said via the EADT.
“I feel like I have worked at the highest levels of the game in club football, I felt very confident there and I fee like that’s somewhere I want to be again.
“That’s a journey that I want to take with Ipswich Town. That’s certainly where all my concentration is going.”
The Verdict
It hasn’t been the season that Ipswich Town fans would have been hoping for at the start of the campaign but there is hope that things are going to improve.
McKenna has installed new optimism in the team and in the fan base and that is what the club needed.
Next season promotion will once again be the aim, meanwhile, and we’ll have to see if the men from Suffolk can pull it off.
