Kieran McKenna is still helping Manchester United even after leaving the club

After four seasons languishing in the depths of League One, Ipswich Town would have been forgiven for taking things slowly upon their return to the Championship.

Instead, the Tractor Boys, under the guidance of former Manchester United first-team coach Kieran McKenna, are looking to become the first club to jump from League One to the Premier League in just two seasons since Southampton more than a decade ago. At the time of writing, they sit at the top of the Championship table after taking 22 points from their first nine games.

Currently the second highest scorers in the division, plundering 18 goals so far this season, Ipswich are a club making serious progress, both on and off the pitch. They have made significant strides since McKenna walked through the door in December 2021, so much so that hopes of a long-awaited return to the Premier League have never been greater.

The Northern Irishman, who spent five years working at Old Trafford, is widely considered as one of the most exciting and promising coaches in English football. And at the age of just 37, it is easy to understand why.

Ipswich, who clinched second in League One last term, play with a real swagger, a style of play so exciting and enterprising that it would not look out of place in the Premier League. They play with purpose, right the way through from back to front, and it is a system that sees the club's attacking players reap the rewards.
