David Beckham ‘to be offered role’ at Manchester United if Sheikh Jassim buys club in takeover latest
The Manchester United takeover process is approaching its 11th month with little in the way of a clear conclusion forthcoming.
The Manchester Evening News understands that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s bid remains on the table despite reluctance from Avram and Joel Glazer to sell the club. Last month, Sir Jim Ratcliffe admitted it would be “excruciating” if his own proposal was turned down.
Suggestions that the INEOS billionaire could instead decide to invest in a minority stake with the view of a future majority takeover have seen United’s value on the stock market rise slightly, although it is an option that would be hugely unpopular among fans.

David Beckham had his say on the matter over the weekend, calling on the Glazers to make a decision and offer more clarity on the takeover situation, something he believes is not helping manager Erik ten Hag at the moment.
Now, reports suggest he could make an honorary return to United if the Glazers do decide to sell up.
A report from talkSPORT claims that Beckham could be offered an ambassadorial role if Qatari Sheikh Jassim wins the takeover race. The Inter Miami owner is one of a number of ex-players on Sheikh Jassim’s list to be handed such a post, it adds.
Beckham, who was an ambassador for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, said on Saturday that he has a preference regarding who he wants to take over at Old Trafford, but refused to indicate which bidder that was.
