Kieran McGeeney receives 'unanimous' support to continue as Armagh manager

Armagh's All-Ireland winning manager Kieran McGeeney will remain in charge for an 11th successive season after receiving unanimous support from club delegates at this evening's county committee meeting.

His backroom team of Kieran Donaghy, Conleth Gilligan and Ciaran McKeever will also remain on board for the defence of their All-Ireland title.

Unlike last year, when McGeeney's management was famously put to a vote, with certain clubs hankering for change, this year his continuation as manager was waved through unanimously.

The 2002 All-Ireland winning centre-back became the longest serving inter-county manager following the resignation of Clare's Colm Collins after 2023.

In situ since 2015, McGeeney had presided over a slow but steady rise from Division 3 mediocrity but this had failed to yield any notable championship silverware prior to this summer, when they spectacularly recovered from more Ulster final heartbreak to win the county's second All-Ireland title in dramatic fashion against Galway in late July.

They will begin 2025 in Division 1, having sealed their promotion back to the top flight last spring.
