Kids of today will never know just how much of a colossus Nemanja Vidic was for Man United

During his time in charge, Sir Alex Ferguson crafted some truly special Manchester United teams.

The fact that he was the man in the hot seat that oversaw two or three of United’s most iconic sides says everything it needs to say about just how great the legendary Scot was.

Sir Alex managed countless stars that, at one time or another, were comfortably described as the ‘best in the world’.

From Cristiano Ronaldo to Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney to Roy Keane, Ferguson worked with some truly heroic players.

However, one of the stars near the top of that list, who certainly doesn’t get enough credit for what he achieved, is defensive stalwart, Nemanja Vidic.

Alongside the aforementioned Ferdinand, Vidic formed one of the most feared centre-back duos on the continent – one capable of squeezing the life out of even the most lethal of attacking line-ups.

In 2008/09, Vidic went a staggering 1,311 minutes without conceding at one point, ultimately shipping just 23 goals across the course of the Premier League season.

While that particular season was certainly his zenith, he produced some pretty remarkable stats outside of it as well.

Had he not played in the era of that quite unbeatable Pep Guardiola Barcelona side, Vidic would be able to boast a plunder of European titles but, as it is, will have to settle for just the one.

However, we can do all the talking we like about the defender but the only way to truly prove what a colossus he was is with some cold, hard footage of him in action.

Fortunately, we have just the video for that occasion, which you can see below:

I miss Nemanja Vidic
