Khabib vs Conor McGregor: UFC legend admits he didn't know who Drake was ahead of fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed that he didn’t know who Drake was when he turned up with Conor McGregor back at UFC 229.

The superstar Canadian rapper appeared with McGregor back in 2018 at the weigh-in before their highly anticipated bout in Las Vegas.

The build-up for the fight was full of jibes and insults between the two which led to the highest pay-per-view purchases for a UFC event with 2.4 million buys.

McGregor infamously attacked the bus that Nurmagomedov was on at the media day of UFC 223 and the hatred between the competitors has grown since then.

The former Russian mixed martial artist said: “Honestly, I swear I don’t even (know who Drake was)

“Before when he was on the corner of Conor, people said this guy is very famous. I swear I didn’t know this guy.

“Maybe I hear his music somewhere in the street or something but I didn’t know this guy.”

Khabib, who has now retired, always gave the impression during his career that he only focused on fighting so maybe he did manage to completely block Drake out.

But he has admitted that he’s listened to Eminem, 50 Cent, DMX and 2Pac.

McGregor has been friends with Drake for a long time and in 2017, he said that the Canadian helped him to sign a contract with Beats by Dre.

The 33-year-old won against the Irishman via submission in the fourth round but that then led to an ugly brawl in the aftermath of the fight.

The Eagle jumped out of the Octagon and went straight for Dillon Danis who is a fighter who trained with McGregor.

Whilst that was happening, McGregor was being attacked by two members of Nurmagomedov’s entourage, Zubaira Tukhugov and Used Emiragaev.
