Khabib Nurmagomedov's manager takes aim at Conor McGregor's two-fight skid

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager Ali Abdelaziz has taunted Conor McGregor over his recent losing streak – claiming he ‘has not won a fight since the 90’s’.

McGregor, 33, hasn’t tasted victory in over two years since his 40-second demolition job of Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020.

The former UFC lightweight champion has since suffered back-to-back losses to his old featherweight rival Dustin Poirier, the most recent of which saw him carried out of the octagon on a stretcher after snapping his left leg in the closing stages of the first round.

Abdelaziz’s jibe came after Brian Kelleher traded some verbals on Twitter with Khabib’s cousin Umar Nurmagomedov.

Fan favourite Kelleher will face the surging 135lb prospect next month at UFC 272 in Las Vegas.

And ‘Boom’ has called in for some reinforcements in the form of the Notorious.

Last Friday the 35-year-old tweeted: “Whatta [sic] ya say bring the proper 12.”

Umar posted a photo of himself and Khabib in response to which Kelleher replied: “Remember what you said. He can’t help you. That’s not nice to your corner.”

Nurmagomedov simply added: “For me he is a mountain behind my back.”

And Abdelaziz, 44, was quick to remind Kelleher about McGregor’s current predicament.

He wrote in reply: “Brian, this guy has not won a fight since the 90’s, you [sic] a lot better than him.

“This guy get [sic] beat up inside the cage and outside the cage.” 

McGregor is in the final stages of his recovery from the broken leg he suffered in his trilogy fight with Poirier last July.

But his manager Tim Simpson admits it is unlikely he will return by the summer.

Simpson told MMA Fighting: “Really that’s on Conor [when to return], but I expect this year.
