Khabib landing 55 punches in just 90 seconds on Conor McGregor

The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is one for the books with many fans completely hooked on the drama.

McGregor is not a novice when it comes to creating such rivalries. He is able to create compelling grudges in an instant that transpire into vicious feuds.

Nurmagomedov, is the sole fighter who has managed to stay in McGregor’s orbit for years on end.

Whilst not always in the press headlines The Notorious and The Eagle have been engaged in a back and forth for years.

When the pair met at UFC 229 it was expected that chaos would ensue, but no one predicted what would happen.

In a, somewhat, shock of events, Nurmagomedov completely mauled McGregor pulling off an immense 55 punches in just 90 seconds.

McGregor was clearly taken aback by the blows and looked slightly dazed by the bravery of his rival.

Nurmagomedov was able to make the former two-weight world champion tap out in the fourth round at UFC 22, but the chaos didn’t stop there. Nurmagomedov then jumped out of the octagon and attacked one of McGregor’s team, Dillon Danis.

As anarchy broke out outside the ring, two of Nurmagomedov’s teammates jumped into the octagon and went for McGregor.

The Irishman was quick to throw punches of his own before he was escorted back to his dressing room by security as the brawl continued.

Whilst the fight will always be remembered as one of the times two greats appeared in the Octagon together, the punching burst may be overshadowed by the chaos that followed.

On March 18th 2021, it was confirmed on Instagram by UFC President Dana White that Nurmagomedov is officially retired.

UFC athletes and media were quick to praise the legendary champion for an incredible career.
