Key managerial update involving Hull City comes to light

Hull City are set to unveil Shota Arveladze as their new manager on Friday, as per a recent report by the Yorkshire Post.

The 48-year-old has long been lined up for the role at the MKM Stadium since Acun Ilicali completed his takeover of the club and will now be announced formally as the new boss at a lunchtime press conference tomorrow.

Ilicali, vice-chairman Tan Kesler and the Tigers’ interim CEO are also set to be in attendance as the club seeks to move into a new era with the former Glasgow Rangers player at the helm.

Arveladze has previous experience of having managed the likes of Trabzonspor, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Pakhtakor Tashkent amongst others and has been out of work since 2020.

He will takeover a Hull City side that are still looking to move clear of the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship despite picking up some memorable victories recently over the promotion chasing pair of Blackburn Rovers and Bournemouth.

The Verdict

It was always likely that the new owner would bring in a manager of his choice and he is now set to do just that as he looks to quickly move on from the controversial sacking of Grant McCann at the MKM Stadium.

The decision to get rid of their promotion winning boss was a tough one and certainly didn’t go down well with the majority of the fans who felt it was very harsh given the upturn in recent results.

Therefore Arveladze may well have his work cut out to win them over straight away if he doesn’t get off to a winning start with the East Riding of Yorkshire outfit.

Of course there is still time for players to be signed before the window is out, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is already having a say on who comes in.
