Kevin Van Veen sparks transfer chase amid Rangers admission as Groningen confirm record breaker can go
Kevin van Veen is set to spark a Premiership January transfer chase as Groningen confirm he won't stand in his way if he wants a move.
The maverick Dutchman turned into a Motherwell hero last season as he fired in a remarkable 29 goals to inspire the Steelmen to safety. It won him a move back to Holland at Groningen but he has been back in Scotland with his Scottish partner as he becomes a dad. However, it hasn't all gone his way at home with only five goals for his new club and is back where he was last season for an 'indefinite period' according to his club.
He has been linked with Rangers after admitting there was an interest in him while he was at Fir Park prior to his Dutch return, while Well boss Stuart Kettlewell says they would be keen but finances would be an issue. Groningen's sports director Wouter Gudde has revealed the club will not stand in his way - but only if the right offer arrives.

He said: "I talk to Kevin on the phone almost every day and if there is interest because he is not playing, we will listen. If another club makes a concrete offer and the solution is good, we will cooperate with his departure. In principle of course, he is welcome to return to the club when we return to training on January 3 too."
