Kevin van Veen responds to transfer rumours as Motherwell sensation refuses to offer guarantees over his future

Kevin van Veen has admitted he can’t give Motherwell fans any guarantees over his Fir Park future as speculation escalates the Dutchman could be heading for bigger and better things this summer.

The former Scunthorpe United man has been a revelation this season with 21 goals which has seen him nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award – the only non-Celtic player on the four-man shortlist. With just a year left on his contract in Lanarkshire, there has been speculation linking him with a move to Aberdeen where his old chief executive Alan Burrows is now in charge while ex-Steelmen boss Graham Alexander has also urged Rangers to make a move.

And, asked to update Motherwell fans on where he will be next season, the 31-year-old told Sky Sports. “I can’t say too much on the future because if everything is on the green light and everyone is happy with whatever is going to happen then we need to discuss and talk about that. But at this moment in time I’m very happy and delighted to play for Motherwell and all my focus is on Motherwell but I can never predict what will happen in the summer. At this moment in time I love the club and that Motherwell have given me the platform to show what I can do.

“This is the best form of my career and the best I’ve felt. All the experiences I've been through has helped me and Motherwell have given me this platform to show what I’m capable of and my team-mates have been massive help in that as well. I’m delighted to have been able to show everyone what I can do and hopefully I can continue in that.”
