Kevin De Bruyne gives update on Man City future after injury hell

Kevin De Bruyne shelved contract talks after two months of injury pain at Manchester City.

De Bruyne had a conversation with the club in the summer over his future, with his contract running out at the end of the season. More talks were planned when the campaign got up and running, only for the 33-year-old to suffer what he thought was an innocuous injury that ended up costing him two months.

Having hurt himself in September, last Friday was the first time since that he felt no pain when he kicked a football and he looked bright when he came off the bench for the final minutes against Tottenham. The Belgian is happy to be back on the pitch but wants to feel more like his old self before he resumes talks over his future.

"I was hoping to be out for a couple of days and it ended up being eight or nine weeks so I wanted to get through that first and see how I am," he said. "I'm not too obsessed with things right now. People ask me about this but there's not a lot I can say. There haven't been a lot of talks. I just want to play good football again and the rest we will see.

"I had a conversation already in the summer but then I had the injury so I was not in the right frame of mind to speak about that. I really want to be good and be back on the pitch and be myself again and there is no rush. I don’t feel uncomfortable in my situation, I just want to play football."
