Kermit Erasmus praises Bucs boss Riveiro's openness to the culture of SA football
Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has praised head coach Jose Riveiro for his remarkable impact at the DStv Premiership club.
Under the guidance of Riveiro, who joined the club on a three-year deal in June 2022, the Buccaneers have already secured the MTN 8 title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AmaZulu earlier this season.
As they prepare for the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, 27 May, where they will face Sekhukhune United, the team also find themselves in a commendable second place on the league standings with one game remaining.
In an interview with iDiski Times, Erasmus expressed his admiration for Riveiro: “He's a great human being, a good coach.
“You know from the start of the season, having to understand how he wants us to play and having our own identity, he has been great."
Erasmus further highlighted Riveiro's patience and tactical expertise, which has helped the players improve their understanding of the game.
The coach's influence has instilled courage and motivation within the team, fostering a strong sense of unity among the players.
"He's very patient with us as players because not a lot of us understand the tactical side of it. So that helps us improve on that.
“And you know, with the team he has, he's brought in a lot of courage and motivation for us as teammates, as players.”
Riveiro's commitment to understanding South African football and its diverse culture has also impressed Erasmus.
"He's making an effort to understand the culture of South African football and the players as well, understanding the different dynamics of different races of players - not only the football side, but understanding the human being as players.
