Kent Senior Trophy First Round: Canterbury City and Larkfield & New Hythe knock out Premier Division side, Kennington hit seven, Faversham win again

Canterbury City and Larkfield & New Hythe both produced upsets in the Kent Senior Trophy First Round on Saturday.

A Harry Bradford goal with 13 minutes left saw Canterbury win 1-0 at home to Premier Division Rusthall.

Division 1 side Larkfield also beat higher-league opposition, impressively winning 1-0 at Lydd thanks to Joe Bingham’s penalty midway through the first half. The visitors also had the luxury of missing a penalty in the second half.

Callum Peck scored four goals as Lordswood needed extra-time to defeat Division 1 Lewisham.

Three goals in a five-minute spell either side of half-time from Michael Amponsah, Zacchius Ajose and Bryan Zepo put hosts Lewisham in charge.

But Peck completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time to make it 3-3 and then added to Josh Reid’s goal in the second half of extra-time to seal his team’s progress.

Last season’s finalists, Deal, were knocked out at home by Snodland, who scored a 90th-minute winner through Jack Bath.

Ben Davisson’s first-half penalty had put Snodland ahead but Jack Hanson levelled on the hour mark.

Faversham comfortably progressed at the expense of Kent County League Red Velvet. Warren Mfula, Josh Vincent and a Stefan Payne penalty put the hosts 3-0 ahead at half-time.

Mfula added his second after the break with Fred Baker claiming a consolation nine minutes from time.

Josh Oliver’s hat-trick helped Whitstable to a 4-2 home win over Tunbridge Wells.

A whirlwind start saw Oliver put Whitstable ahead on three minutes. Rory Ward equalised three minutes later before Josh Williams made it 2-1 with just eight minutes on the clock.

Oliver scored either side of half-time to complete his treble, James White replying for the visitors.
