Kent Merit Under-14 girls cup final: Bromley 0 Kent Football United 3

Two-goal Zera Oshevie led Kent Football United to victory in the Kent Merit Under-14 girls cup final over Bromley on Sunday.

Oshevie scored a goal in either half as Kent Football’s dominance was reflected in the scoreline at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium.

Kent Football manager Adam Ransley said: “It was a good game, the girls did well and we’re really proud of them.

“We had a shield final where we lost 2-1 the day before so I’m really made up for the girls that we won this one.”

Kent Football’s early dominance would have been rewarded but for two excellent pieces of Bromley defending. First, Darcey Forbes cleared off the line to deny Oshevie and then Ruby Gillam got back to deny Tishe Olunloyo as she closed in on goal.

Bromley’s Isabella Hogg lacked power in her shot while the tenacity up front of Jasmine Gouveia-Barnett kept the opposition defence honest.

Kent Football had threats all over the pitch, with the likes of Priya Thapa, Zara King and Ava Killaly all impressing.

Bromley keeper Kelsey Pink produced a stunning save to deny Oshevie but she could do nothing to prevent the Kent Football striker opening the scoring on 27 minutes as Oshevie’s powerful left-foot shot rocketed into the net.

The lead was doubled just four minutes later when a right-wing corner - which should have been a goal kick - was not cleared by the Bromley defence and Olunloyo squeezed home the loose ball from close range.

Kent Football had a chance to make it 3-0 when they were awarded a generous penalty after Oshevie played in Olunloyo. Oshevie stepped forward but put the spot-kick over the bar and into the car park.

The game struggled to flow after the break with roll on, roll off substitutions not helping either side gain much momentum.
