Kent FA over-60s beaten 4-2 by England over-65s at K Sports

The Kent FA over-60s rep side were beaten 4-2 by England over-65s in an entertaining match at Cobdown.

Kent came from a goal down to lead but a hat-trick from Trevor George turned the game England's way.

England got off to the perfect start as they took the lead within the opening two minutes.

Rob Beel was fouled in the box and dusted himself off to slot the resulting penalty into the bottom corner.

With the wind and slope in their favour, Kent were on the front foot for the next 10 minutes and drew level with Det Hoffman heading home from a delightful cross.

With the half drawing to a close the hosts took the lead through Bob Wiggins, who finished superbly from just outside the box.

Facing the elements in the second half, Kent struggled going forwards but stood firm in defence, limiting their opponents to long-range shots which failed to trouble the Kent backline.

England started to push in search for the equaliser and came close in quick succession, Pete Coffill denied by the bar and Beel hitting the post.

The pressure for England eventually paid off as they drew level with 15 minutes remaining, George heading home from close range.

England then took the lead as George took advantage of a defensive mix-up to slot home.

And he completed his hat-trick with just over five minutes remaining as another defensive slip allowed him to pick his spot in the bottom corner.

Wiggins was Kent's man-of-the-match, while Coffill took the England award.

Next up for Kent is a trip to Billericay on April 23 in the next round of the National Over-60s Cup.
