Kenny Miller vents on Rangers 'excuse' from Michael Beale over Celtic gap as boss told to bin Kent or Morelos deals

Kenny Miller hasn't been left enamoured by Michael Beale's talk over a Rangers gap between themselves and Celtic.

The fallout is spilling into this week's Premiership clash with Kilmarnock as fans in the blue corner take a wider picture view to Sunday's League Cup defeat to Celtic. He insisted ahead of hosting Killie that his side are fighting 'against the odds' to topple Ange Postecoglou's side who sit nine points clear at the top, not perking Miller's positive interest.

Instead, he feels that Beale's comments on the gap between finances at his disposal to those across the city are like an excuse, telling Superscoreboard: "I lived it for a few seasons when we were miles behind Celtic, I don't like it, Celtic are better at the moment. They are winning trophies and everything is rosy. In terms of the finances, it is not that big, you are not telling me whoever has spent the most has won the league every year in Scotland. Maybe in England that is applicable, because Rangers have spent less and won leagues and Celtic maybe spent less back in the day and won leagues.

"I don't like it, it does seem like you are finding some excuse. The bottom line is that Rangers have got to improve their performances and their recruitment must improve in the summer.

"You talk about it being hard to compete with the finances of Celtic. Well, you can't be spending seven or eight million on one or two players who are not starting and making a difference."

Two players who shouldn't be at Rangers beyond the summer are Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, according to the Record Sport columnist. He insists that neither of them have warranted extension options with their deals expiring this summer.
