Kenny Miller loved Rangers rocket timing from Michael Beale as 'shake them up' message key to Celtic clash

Kenny Miller says the timing of Michael Beale's defensive Rangers blast bodes well ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic.

The former striker was present at Ibrox on Saturday as his previous club scored three in the final 10 minutes to secure a 5-2 win. But Beale was fuming with how they conceded, lamenting a 'horror show' as players failed to close down Mark O'Hara before his first half stunner while nobody could stop him powering home again in the second half.

With 12 points the gap to leaders Celtic at the top of the league, this month's Hampden showdown looks like last chance saloon in terms of silverware for Rangers this season. And Record Sport columnist Miller tells Superscoreboard that a rattling of cages could prove fruitful for Mount Florida's pressure cooker: "I thought they were quite dominate. But St Mirren were in this game and there were two goals and it was poor defensively. He was talking about that first one, he expects his team to be defending when they are attacking.

"It's a wonder goal from O'Hara but it was really poor defensively and similar with the second. There's about Rangers going for the ball and Souttar eventually heads it, and falls down.

"But they were controlling and capitalised on those chances towards the end, scoring some really good goals. You have just won 5-2 and it's a wonderful time to have a wee poke at your players.

"Maybe shake them up, because there is a massive game in two weeks. There's futures up for grab."
