Keinan Davis impressing on loan
Keinan Davis fell down the pecking order at Aston Villa and was deemed surplus to requirements under Steven Gerrard, so he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest to get more opportunities.
The 24-year-old’s decision appears to have paid off, as he’s been a regular in their starting lineup and has consistently found the back of the net. Davis has four goals and one assist in 11 Championship games, starting in 10 of their league games since his January arrival.
He immediately nailed down a starting place at the City Ground and has averaged a goal or assist every 152 minutes, so Davis should have plenty of offers this summer if he’s to leave Villa.
The 24-year-old finds himself behind Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Cameron Archer, so it’s hard to see him getting back in the Villa team next season. That’s not to say Gerrard won’t be happy with his form in the Championship, but Davis’ future might be in the second tier for now.
His deal at Villa still has two-and-a-half years to run, but it’s highly unlikely he’ll remain past the summer. Davis needs first-team football for the sake of his development, so he surely won’t want to spend next season on the fringes.
