Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has compared Katie Taylor’s fight against Amanda Serrano to Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao.
On April 30 at Madison Square Garden, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will meet in what many consider to be the biggest fight in the history of women’s boxing. Both fighters have enjoyed a great deal of success throughout their respective careers and in New York City, they’ll battle for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring female lightweight titles.
Serrano currently sits at 42-1-1 after a dominant featherweight run whereas Taylor is 20-0 with an incredibly impressive list of fallen foes on her record.
The contest is being pushed to the moon by their respective promoters and understandably so, as it could well determine who the best pound-for-pound female boxer on the planet is.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Eddie Hearn didn’t hold back when bigging it up as a truly historic event.
“When I break it down, forget women’s boxing and forget men’s boxing here. This is a great fight,” Hearn said. “It’s almost like the Mayweather-Pacquiao of women’s boxing. You’ve got an undisputed champion against the seven-division world champion.
