Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano: Carl Frampton makes worrying prediction
Katie Taylor‘s age may catch up to her against Amanda Serrano in their Saturday night showdown.
That is the extraordinary claim from former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton, who fears Serrano may prove to be a step too far even for Taylor at this stage of their careers.
The pair will lock horns at Madison Square Garden in New York tomorrow night in the biggest women’s fight in boxing history.
Serrano is two years younger than Taylor and is the slight favourite heading into the fight – having last fought on the undercard of Jake Paul‘s rematch with Tyron Woodley in December.
And Frampton, writing for the Belfast Telegraph, believes the Bray Bomber could be in for a nasty shock on the night.
The Jackal wrote: ‘This fight may have been the ideal time to introduce three-minute rounds as Serrano had suggested when it was announced.
‘The twos suit Katie as she has that fast style and experience as an amateur, whereas three would suit Serrano.
‘This all has to change at some point because it’s like a different sport with two-minute rounds.
‘It’s more of a sprint.
‘All events with Katie Taylor are massive as she’s a huge global star at the forefront of where female boxing is right now.
She has been the flag-bearer and the one that has put it in the position that it is now in.
‘The girls who have come behind have done amazingly well, but Katie is the one and deserves all of the credit she gets.
‘This is a really tough fight and it’s one I’d love to be at.
