Kasper Schmeichel gives inside information on Sir Jim Ratcliffe ownership amid Manchester United bid

Kasper Schmeichel lavished praise on INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and endorsed a potential takeover of Manchester United.

The Glazers are currently in talks with Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani for a sale of United and it's believed a preferred bidder between both of those parties will soon be declared after three rounds of bidding.

Ratcliffe is Britain's wealthiest man and he was born in Failsworth, Manchester, and grew up supporting United. Ratcliffe is also a huge sports fan and his company INEOS has a portfolio including cycling, Formula 1 and French football club Nice.

INEOS, a chemical company led by its founder Ratcliffe, acquired Nice in 2019 and players who have since joined the Ligue 1 side, including Schmeichel and Aaron Ramsey, have discussed the attraction of the 'sporting project'.

Schmeichel appeared on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football and he was asked about Ratcliffe's interest in United. He took that opportunity to praise the 70-year-old and he endorsed his move to buy the club from the Glazers.

"One of the biggest reasons that I joined Nice was because of INEOS and because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, their vision and how they want to evolve their sports," Schmeichel said.

"Because they've been successful, not just in business, but in every other sporting venture they've thrown their investment at. I think with Manchester United particularly, Jim [Ratcliffe] is a big fan of the club and that speaks a lot to fans.
