Karlan Grant update emerges following West Brom’s win over Bournemouth
West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Bruce has admitted that Karlan Grant is likely to be out of action for a couple weeks due to a calf injury.
Grant was a notable absentee from the Baggies’ match-day squad for yesterday’s meeting with AFC Bournemouth and is now unlikely to be available for their upcoming clashes with Stoke City, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest.
Andy Carroll replaced Grant in West Brom’s side last night and went on to produce an impressive performance for the club as they sealed a 2-0 victory over the Cherries at The Hawthorns.
Alex Mowatt opened the scoring for the Baggies in the eight minute as he slotted an effort past goalkeeper Mark Travers.
Carroll then doubled West Brom’s advantage as he latched onto Sam Johnstone’s long ball and duly converted from close range.
Bournemouth were unable to produce a comeback in the second-half as the Baggies sealed all three points in front of their supporters.
As a result of this triumph, West Brom moved up to 11th in the Championship standings.
After his side’s meeting with Bournemouth, Bruce shared an injury update on Grant.
Speaking to Birmingham Live about the forward, the Albion boss said: “He’s got a bit of a calf strain and he’s not well either so I don’t think he’ll be fit for Saturday either.
“We’ll see how he is but I would think it will be a couple of weeks.”
The Verdict
This is a blow for West Brom as although they were able to cope in the absence of Grant last night, they would have been hoping to call upon his services in their upcoming fixtures.
