Karim Benzema's race vs referee during Osasuna 1-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid took another giant step towards winning La Liga on Wednesday evening.

Los Blancos beat Osasuna 3-1 away from home thanks to goals from David Alaba, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez.

Karim Benzema surprisingly didn’t get his name on the scoresheet at the El Sadar Stadium, although he certainly had chances to do so.

The Frenchman, whose form in 2021/22 has been Ballon d’Or worthy, missed two penalties in the second half.

Benzema’s efforts from 12 yards came just seven minutes apart and each of them was saved by Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

It’s not often the 34-year-old is that poor in front of goal, particularly this season where he’s taken his game to another level.

Benzema has scored 25 goals and assisted a further 11 in La Liga action, a record befitting of prime Lionel Messi.

But the former Lyon man just wasn’t at the races on Wednesday and speaking of races, he actually lost one versus the referee against Osasuna.

At one point in the match, Benzema sprinted up field to join an attack after offloading the ball in his own half and the referee, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, decided to follow his path.

Check out how the race unfolded…

Naaah the referee really wanted to beat Benzema in a race
