Karim Benzema makes comeback vow to Man City with Real Madrid Champions League warning

Karim Benzema has vowed Real Madrid will 'do something magical' when they resume a mouth-watering semi-final showdown with Manchester City next Wednesday night. The two teams served up a classic Champions League thriller at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Belgium playmaker Kevin de Bruyne set Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team on their way last night as further goals from Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden put City 2-0 and 3-1 up on the night. They eventually won 4-3 with Bernardo Silva adding the fourth.

Yet Real showed fight and determination to keep themselves in the tie, thanks to Karim Benzema's brace. Vinicius Jr also scored, with the winner of the tie to play either Liverpool or Villarreal in the final on May 28.

Seven goals were shared on a truly memorable night for the marquee European competition. although City may regret not winning the game by a bigger margin. As far as Benzema is concerned, though, Madrid are in a good position to complete a dramatic turnaround.

A vociferous crowd of 85,000-plus is anticipated for the second leg in Madrid. That will take place on May 4.

During his post-match interview with Movistar Plus, the France striker said: " A defeat is never good because we are really excited about the Champions League. The most important thing is we never lay down our arms, we are all in this until the end. Now we have to go to the Bernabeu. We will need our fans like never before and we are going to do something magical, which is win."
