Kamaru Usman hits back at Conor McGregor for bringing up his daughter

Kamaru Usman has questioned Conor McGregor after receiving criticism from the Irishman following UFC 278.

Last month in Utah, Kamaru Usman’s three-year run as UFC welterweight champion came to an end when he was beaten by Leon Edwards. ‘Rocky’ was able to knock Usman out in the fifth round of their contest and while it may have been shocking, the former king has noted ever since that it was a relief to feel the pressure being lifted from his shoulders.

Plenty of fighters and pundits, as you can imagine, had a lot to say about Usman’s downfall – and that includes Conor McGregor.

Even though the pair have never met inside the Octagon, they’ve teased a collision many times in the past with Conor taking plenty of shots at Kamaru on social media.

‘Notorious’ kept that going after UFC 278 by mocking ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ before going on to question whether it’s a good idea to bring family members to fights.

During a podcast appearance with Joe Rogan, Usman made it clear that he wasn’t overly pleased with what McGregor had to say.

“When my daughter was crying, that one, it got to me,” Usman said. “I didn’t like seeing that. And then, Conor tweeted something and it was kinda blasting me about for like bringing her to the fight. Like he tweeted some mean things, and it was like ‘how low of people sometimes.’’’

“I am blessed right now with an opportunity to show my daughter that look how you can fall down, and look how you can get back up, and to see someone like Conor who does actually have children to say something like that, you’re missing the mark big time bro.”

Kamaru Usman has his eyes on the prize and quite clearly wants a trilogy fight with Leon Edwards, most likely in England next year.
