Kaizer Chiefs held to goalless draw by blunt Golden Arrows

Kaizer Chiefs continued their unbeaten run that makes them sound like a purring lion on paper, but at close inspection – four draws in seven matches – reveal the domestic cat they still are in the Betway Premiership jungle.

A missed penalty in the first half contributed in Amakhosi dropping two points in their second successive match after they were also held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City on Saturday last week.

The draw with City was due to a goalkeeping mistake by Brandon Petersen and a lack of a killer instinct up front. Chiefs improved defensively to keep only their second clean sheet in seven matches.

But once again, Amakhosi were let down by the lack of a clinical touch up front when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

Abafana Bes’thende made the long trek from Durban to Mbombela to “host” Amakhosi.

The club announced 10 days ago that due to being “unable to secure a suitable venue in Durban” they were forced to host this match more than 600 kilometres from home.
