Kaizer Chiefs bypassing football laws 'a dark day for football in SA' - John Comitis
Cape Town City owner John Comitis is not happy with the decision to allow Kaizer Chiefs to play two of their missed DStv Premiership matches.
Amakhosi revealed to the football fraternity that a mass Covid-19 outbreak at the club occurred, with no less than 52 members testing positive for the virus in December 2021.
Chiefs wrote to the league, urging the postponement of their festive fixtures, but the PSL took nearly three weeks to respond.
The club took matters into its own hands during that time, opting not to honour their fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows before returning to play Sekhukhune United 10 days later.
The PSL then officially charged the Soweto giants for failing to honour two of their fixtures, with Chiefs challenging the case.
The Glamour Boys opted to rope in the South African Football Association (SAFA) in the matter that further prolonged the case.
On Friday, a SAFA arbitration ruled in favour of Chiefs, to allows ties with City and Arrows to be replayed.
Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide, Comitis said: "I'm sitting here trying to relax on the weekend but turning out, this is a dark day for football in South Africa.
"It really is, I'm flabbergasted. What happened to the disciplinary committee, the PSL disciplinary committee?
"Here we have a club not arriving at a match, and we allow this thing to get to this point, because we didn't act, and prosecution didn't act and I and I’m very disappointed.
"I'm very disappointed for football, because smart lawyers and advocates that get involved, they come up with these positions, in terms of administration law, and all these things.
"But we've got football rules. What about the football rules that we all prescribed to?
