Juventus star compares Paul Pogba to LeBron James amid Manchester United exit talk

Paul Pogba’s former Juventus teammate Giorgio Chiellini has called the midfielder the “LeBron James of football” amid suggestions he could return to Italy.

Pogba looks likely to leave Manchester United in the summer. The 28-year-old is in the final few months of his contract at Old Trafford, and there has been no indication that he will sign a new deal.

The France international has been linked with plenty of big clubs ahead of the summer window. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have been touted as possible destinations, while a return to Juventus also looks as though it could be on the cards.

Pogba spent four years in Turin after leaving United as a teenager in 2012 — only to make his return to Old Trafford in 2016. The 2018 World Cup winner though is still highly thought-of by the Italian giants, meaning a second spell with them might not be out of the question.

It was during his spell with Juve that Pogba spent time playing alongside Chiellini. Speaking in an interview with The Times, the defender spoke about how he was blown away by the midfielder when he first saw him in action, and how he feels he isn’t living up to his potential at United currently.

“Pogba is the LeBron James of football. Really, when I see him growing up it’s fantastic,” Chiellini said. “When I saw him that first week of training I said: ‘What? He is not real!’

"He was from Manchester United, so I expected to meet a good player but I also thought if he is not playing for United he cannot be a top one. But he was.

"He was different from the others and I’m sad that [since rejoining United] he is not showing completely what he is.
