Juventus looking to take advantage of Arsenal interest in midfielder with swap deal for young star

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli is wanted by Juventus, who could use the Gunners interest in midfielder Arthur Melo to form a swap deal.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for Brazilian midfielder Arthur in January, with a possible loan deal touted.

However, the two clubs could not come to an agreement and the player remained with the Italian giants until the end of the season.

He has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield options.

Arsenal missed out on Champions League qualification for next season after a late wobble saw north-London rivals Tottenham take advantage and secure a top four finish.

They were without key man Thomas Partey for much of the final part of the season and looked light on bodies in central midfield.

And CalcioMercato (via The Mirror) is now reporting that Juventus could now look to to take advantage of Arsenal’s interest in Arthur by plotting an audacious swap deal that includes 20-year-old Martinelli.

The Brazilian enjoyed a good season for the Gunners, scoring six Premier League goals, his best campaign in front of goal to date.

Martinelli also secured his first call up to the Brazil national side and made his debut as a substitute in the 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Chile.

Juve are thought to keen on improving thier forward options this summer with doubt of the future of Alvaro Morata and Moise Kean whilst Paulo Dybala will leave the club as a free agent.

However, a deal for Martinelli does look unlikely as the forward does look to be an integral part of a young side that includes the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Martin
