Juventus legend outlines expectations for Man United's Paul Pogba if he seals return

Former Italy and Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero believes outgoing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would have to shoulder more responsibility if he was to seal a return to Juve.

After months of speculation, the Frenchman's exit from United was officially announced on Wednesday, confirming that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month. It will bring an end to his six-year stay at Old Trafford following his return to the club from Juventus back in August 2016.

Despite being brought back to M16 for a club-record fee of £89million, the 29-year-old never consistently hit the heights he was expected to, often blowing hot and cold. He won just two trophies during his second stint at Old Trafford, both of which were won in his first season back at the club.

Now that his exit has been confirmed, Pogba will soon be free to join a new club on a free transfer, and Juventus appear to be the favourites to sign him for a second time. French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid have also been linked with his signature, but a return to Turin looks the most likely outcome.

When he joined Juventus for the first time back in 2012, Pogba was only 19, meaning the expectation levels were very different to what they would be now. But if he was to seal a move back to the Italian giants, Juventus icon Del Piero believes he would be tasked with setting an example for others to follow.
