Jurrien Timber transfer latest: Daley Blind sends message to Man Utd target over proposed Old Trafford move
Former Manchester United defender Daley Blind has commented on the club’s continued links to his impressive Ajax teammate Jurrien Timber.
New Old Trafford chief Erik ten Hag wants to take his former Ajax centre-back with him to Manchester as one of his first signings as a Premier League manager.
But Blind believes the classy 20-year-old is ‘wise enough to make his own choices. Although he hopes the Dutch giants can keep the player in the long-term.
Timber was a key player or Ten Hag this season. And he’s already stated he’ll let his ‘gut feeling be the deciding factor’ over any move.
Reports from the Netherlands, however, claim that Timber is close to deciding that he will stay.
Blind, who spent four years at United, admits that while Timber will have the final say on whether he leaves Ajax this summer, he insists the Dutch giants must do everything in their power to keep him.
“He is wise enough to make his own choices,” Blind told a press conference following Netherlands’ 4-1 win over Belgium on Friday night .
“I don’t need to explain what kind of talent and player he is. How important he is to us.
“What he shows from the start though is unbelievable. Of course, as a teammate, I hope he stays for another year. I cannot influence that.
“I can only say that Ajax must do its best to keep him.”
While Jurrien Timber remains a little raw, he is an unbelievable prospect who has the game to shine in England.
The centre-back, you can also play full-back, is quick and known for his composure. He is also a tremendous reader of the game and has a decent array of long and short-range passing.
One of his major weaknesses though is that he can still be a bit reckless in the challenge.
That is something that he has improved on, but
