Jurgen Klopp told which ‘irresistible’ Liverpool star to jettison ahead of Sadio Mane

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan feels Liverpool should move mountains to keep Sadio Mane and would rather see Roberto Firmino leave the club.

News broke that 30-year-old Mane wants to call time on his Anfield career a day after the Champions League final. The Reds lost 1-0 to Real Madrid and that disappointment was compounded by news that Mane may be on leaving. Bayern Munich were immediately linked with a move for the Senegal star.

And it has been reported that the German giants have already had at least one bid of £25m rejected. Liverpool are said to want in the region of £40m for the African ace, who has scored 120 goals for the Merseysiders.

His contract will expire in the summer of 2023 and so an exit during the current off-season seems likely.

Jordan has now given his take on the situation in his role as a Talksport pundit. And it is clear that he feels Liverpool need to do all they can to stop him leaving – for whatever reason.

“I can’t get my head round whether this is the player’s salary demands,” he said. “Because some people are ruminating that it’s the player’s salary demands, other people are saying it’s because he’s reached the end of the line with Liverpool and he wants a different challenge.

“We can’t get traction on which one it is but I wouldn’t want Mane to go. I wouldn’t want to break up that irresistible dynamic they’ve got up top.”

Mane joined the north-west giants in June 2016 after two successful seasons with Southampton. He bagged 25 goals for Saints and became even more prolific under Jurgen Klopp.

The man with 33 international goals has enjoyed 269 outings in all competitions with Liverpool. And he has formed a superb front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Firmino.
