Jurgen Klopp thinks his English is not good enough for pre-match talk

Jurgen Klopp has revealed he lets senior players headed by Jordan Henderson make the final address to Liverpool's players before matches - because he doesn't feel his own English is good enough to rouse the troops.

Though Klopp is regarded as one of the best communicators in football, the 54-year-old German thinks the final moments before kick off require something different.

'I run meetings during the week and stuff like that but the pep talk before the game, Milly (James Milner), Hendo and some others like Robbo (Andy Robertson) are more vocal in the last few minutes,' he explains.

'As a non-native speaker, I am not very vocal then because it doesn't make sense in this moment. Each word has to hit the nail and not like 'err, err' around it – it doesn't work.

'My English is getting better and it is the same for Sadio (Mane) and Mo (Salah), obviously.

'It took a while for Naby Keita to speak good enough English to understand us all but his English is really good now.'

Keita could feature in today's FA Cup fourth round tie against Championship Cardiff City at Anfield and fans will also want a glimpse of £37million January signing Luis Diaz though his arrival in England was delayed by having to do paperwork in Paris after flying back from World Cup duty with Colombia.

Liverpool haven't won the FA Cup since the 'Steven Gerrard final' against West Ham in 2006 but they will have to overcome Cardiff without Sadio Mane and Mo Salah who will be facing each other in the African Cup of Nations final.
