Jurgen Klopp reacts to PL title race question after Arsenal 3-2 Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool are out of the Premier League title race after his side slumped to a 3-2 defeat away at Arsenal on Sunday.

The Gunners returned to the top of the Premier League table, leapfrogging Manchester City, while this is now officially Liverpool’s worst start to a season in 10 years.

The Reds now find themselves 10th in the table, 14 points behind the league leaders.

Arsenal were 2-1 up half-time thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka at the beginning and end of the half.

Martinelli opened the scoring inside the opening minute before Darwin Nunez equalised for Liverpool midway through the first half.

Saka restored Arsenal’s one-goal advantage in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time following some suspect defending from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was subbed off by Klopp at half-time, seemingly because of an ankle injury that he sustained earlier in the match.

Roberto Firmino then scored Liverpool’s second equalising goal of the afternoon early in the second half. That’s now six goals in five appearances for the Brazilian centre-forward.

But Saka earned all three points for the Gunners with his 78th-minute penalty as Mikel Arteta’s side secured a hard-fought victory.

Klopp was asked whether he believes his team still stand a chance of winning this season’s Premier League title.

The very question was enough to spark a hearty laugh from Klopp, who clearly feels his team have no chance now of catching the likes of Arsenal and Man City.
