Jurgen Klopp provides Mohamed Salah contract latest as Liverpool on brink of agreement

Jurgen Klopp insists there is ‘nothing new to say’ on Mo Salah's contract.

The Kop boss was reacting to rumours of significant progress in discussions between the Egyptian ace and the club. Klopp is not showing any concern over the issue. Salah, 29, has just over one year left on his current deal and has been locked in talks over a new contract for 18 months.

There is growing concern among Liverpool supporters that he could run down his contract and leave for nothing in the summer of 2023. But Klopp is not panicking about the situation at the moment.

The German was asked about the situation ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Benfica in the Champions League. He said: "There’s nothing new to say. The decisive parties are talking to each other and that is all I need."

Salah has scored just one goal in his last six games but Klopp has no fears over his form. He said: "The performance level is important, the threat he brings against other teams.

"He could decide in a better way sometimes but it is a tough period for Mo and Sadio with the African Cup of Nations and coming back from internationals. "We see Mo every day in training and playing, there is nothing to worry about."
