Jurgen Klopp interview resurfaces after saying Liverpool can't compete with Man City

Jurgen Klopp caused a stir in his press conference on Friday evening when he admitted that his Liverpool side can not compete with Manchester City and their financial power.

The two sides will meet at Anfield for their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

City are currently second in the table, 13 points better off than their bitter rivals, who are languishing in the bottom half.

When asked what Liverpool can do to compete with City, Klopp replied, per the Telegraph: "Oh, you won’t like the answer, and you all have the answer already. Nobody can compete with City in that.

"You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market. No matter what it costs you just do it. I know City will not like it. Nobody will like it. You've asked the question, but you know the answer.

"What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them. It is not possible. Not possible. It is just clear and again you know the answer."

Klopp spoke to the media in the summer where he talked up Liverpool's chances for the 2022/23 season.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp said that the Reds were ready to compete for the Premier League again this season.

He spoke of his side improving in midfield and also claimed that they have a number of the top players in the world.

"We have four of the best centre-backs in the world, we have the two best left & right-backs - and we didn't even speak about the goalkeeper," Klopp said. View the video below...
