Jude Bellingham starring for Real Madrid is no 'challenge' as Premier League superiority complex goes into overdrive

Paul Merson doesn't believe Jude Bellingham has much of a "challenge" at Real Madrid as the Premier League inferiority complex went into overdrive.

Bellingham joined the Spanish giants in a mega money move from Dortmund in the summer. And the England international has lit up the Bernabeu with his displays in La Liga and the Champions League, bagging 10 goals in as many games as the Madrilenos have taken the Birmingham boy to their hearts.

But Merson, firmly entrenched in the English Premier League echo chamber, doesn't reckon doing the business for the most successful club on the planet is all that difficult. And of course, the only way Bellingham can truly test himself is to come back to England, according to the former Arsenal and Aston Villa favourite. He told Sky Sports: "Only time will tell but I'm sure the challenge of the Premier League will appeal to Bellingham. If I'm being honest, I don't think there is much of a challenge at Real Madrid.

"He's obviously ripping it up in Spain, but I half expected him to do that. I don't know any good players that have gone to Spain and not done well.

"No disrespect to Real Madrid and La Liga, but I would like to see him in the Premier League one day. Maybe in four or five years when he's done all he needs to do in Madrid.

"He's a top player and it will be a natural progression for him to come back to England and the Premier League when the time is right for him."
